Vivekananda Polyclinic School of Nursing

School of Nursing In order to fulfill the acute shortage of trained nursing personnel, the Vivekananda Polyclinic School of Nursing was established in July 1987 and was attached to the Polyclinic, offering Three Years' Diploma Course in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) following the Indian Nursing Council Syllabus, as well as the State Medical Faculty Regulations. At present it is being managed by a well qualified faculty and is well known for its high standard of Nursing Education and excellence in academic achievement.

However, the need for upgrading this school to a broad based Collegiate programme, with an enriched curriculum, compatible with the advanced medical technology and the changing health service scenario, has long been felt for enhancing the level and quality of care rendered, by the Polyclinic to the sick and ailing. Besides, the State of U.P., in spite of being the most populous State of the country, lacks the opportunity of a Basic B.Sc. Nursing programme, whereas, all the other States, including the smallest State of Sikkim, have more than one Nursing College for providing graduate programme. The Vivekananda Polyclinic School of Nursing, in its pursuit of excellence, at the levels of medico-professional education, has now evolved this broad based curriculum, at the University level, which is in conformity with the Syllabus of Indian Nursing Council. It fits into the relevant changing educational pattern of the country, as well as meets the modern health needs of our people.
