The
Math houses a 'goshala' or cow shed with a large number of cattle.
Unlike other cow sheds, the one at the Math adopts a procedure of
hygenic cattle-care.
For this, there is a separate trained work-force.
Fooding and medication is given as per prescription from eminent
vetirinery experts.
Hygenic atmosphere is maintained in the premises
such that people can stay in the floors right above the goshala.
This is perhaps seen in very few other such establishments in the
region.
A
large part of the milk obtained, is distributed free of cost to
the patients admitted in Vivekananda Polyclinic. The dung is utilized to generate 'gobar-gas' or bio-gas.

There
is a water management system where rain water is collected in tanks
and utilized later for cleaning purposes in the cow-shed.
The Math initiated a humble project of feeding hot milk to 100 preselected impoverished children every day. The programme was inaugurated the 4th of July, 2004, at the Ramakrishna Math, Lucknow by way of distributing a glass of milk, a banana and a piece of bread each to 100 children.
This distribution programme will continue everyday from the same venue at least for a year. The nutritional diet so much needed for their growth is being distributed in collaboration with the Relief Wing of Ramakrishna Mission Hedquarters, Belur Math, as well as Share and Care Foundation, USA.
The cost of banana and bread is being shared by the devotees who wish to extend their participation in this noble endeavour.
